Arthur Ponsonby

Arthur Ponsonby (1871-1946) war britischer Staatsbeamter, Politiker, Schriftsteller und Pazifist. Nachdem er 1908 zunächst als Mitglied der "Liberal Party" in das Unterhaus einzog, gründete er 1914 die "Union of Democratic Control" (UDC). Ziel dieser Vereinigung war es, auf eine verantwortungsvollere Außenpolitik zu drängen und sich gegen den militärischen Einfluss auf Regierungen einzusetzen. Von 1934 bis 1937 war Ponsonby zudem Vorsitzender der "War Resisters International", einem 1921 gegründeten, weltweit agierenden Netzwerk von Antimilitaristen.
